When I was fourteen years old I had my first experience in a darkroom. My sister had a college photography assignment to work on and dragged me along. I rolled my adolescent eyes at the absurdity of hanging out in a room with the lights off. But as soon as the latent image began to reveal itself under the gentle agitation of the developer bath, I was mesmerized. It was love at first sight. I had to wait two more years before I was old enough to take high school darkroom photography classes myself. In college, I proceeded to take every photography class I could get my hands on until I earned an Associates degree in Art Photography and a skills certificate in Traditional and Alternative Photographic Processes.

In 2009 I started my first job in the photography industry assisting local photographer, Elyse Destout, with her Watsonville Photo Lab and editing her weddings and photo shoots. With my education and style rooted in traditional film photography, Elyse helped me make the switch to digital photography.

In 2010 I slowly began photographing weddings. Up until then, I mainly focused on portraiture and nature. I love to draw together my traditional knowledge and artistic eye with the unique personalities of my subjects. Weddings are a wonderful challenge that keeps my blood pumping all day and has a lasting thrill of being the one to capture a precious moment in time. Weddings can be a blur of excitement for a couple; I'm glad when I am there to help everyone remember and to offer different perspectives of the day unfolding.

When I am not working on photography, I enjoy working on my family's small farm, gardening, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and working on other arts, like quilting and stained glass.
